ANALYSIS:

Within the first three minutes of the film, our subject was clutching a pillow in front of her face. The intense opening tapered off but the horror held her interest. Character building under a hot nineties playlist helped to move the story along when there wasn’t a slasher onscreen. A creepy and familiar atmosphere began to build tension, and at 57:00 we recorded our first impressive peak of 88bpm. This frightening moment led to a barrage of exhilarating scenes during the third act. Unexpected and gruesome kills added to the shocks and surprises that sliced their way to a 91bpm peak in this slasher’s paradise.

CONCLUSION:

This first part of the Fear Street trilogy is a heart racing homage to nineties teen slashers. Jump scares, clever kills and an intriguing backstory made us excited for the next installment. Though the scares weren’t off the charts, this walk down Fear Street was an entertaining and nostalgic trip down memory lane.
