ANALYSIS:

Our test subject, who’s diabetic and avoids sweets, especially around October, was up for the challenge, though she admitted to disliking gore tied to the holiday. Ironically, the opening segment kicked off with test subjects of its own, putting her right at home in this twisted experiment. Within five minutes, explosive gore spiked her heart rate from a calm 63 bpm into the danger zone. The first film kept her on the edge of the couch, haunted by faces only a mother could love.

The second story, presented with subtitles, dulled the fear factor slightly but delivered a heart-pounding finale, especially for anyone squeamish about eye exams. The third tale balanced screams with laughter; our subject was as entertained as she was unnerved.

Things took a dark turn in the fourth story, which pushed the envelope with disturbing imagery that nearly made her tap out. The violence crossed her comfort line, and while her pulse held steady, her mind was ready to check out.

Thankfully, the fifth and final chapter brought the fun back. Though the quick pacing of the chaotic horror didn’t spike her heart rate as high as earlier segments, she couldn’t help but squirm until the closing frame.

CONCLUSION:

V/H/S/Halloween (2025) is a bloody good time packed with practical effects and gruesome makeup that’ll make even the steeliest heart skip a beat. While only a few tales sent her pulse soaring, the anthology as a whole delivers a devilishly entertaining ride. It’s a wickedly fun Halloween mix tape, just be sure to watch your sugary treats and your blood pressure while viewing.
